About the event
What’s Left
Bill Ennis and Debbie Morris
Across-the-road neighbors from Straits, NC
Debbie grew up in the Shenandoah Valley, where she began singing with high school friends in a church
band called The Holy Hooters. Funny name, but one of those boys has won multiple Virginia state awards
as a master fiddler and banjo player. Debbie took a corporate path but sang and played either flute, piano
or guitar ever since, in choirs, folk groups, and with friends. It’s been a fun ride getting down to 4 feet above
sea level -- and What’s Left.
Originally from Jacksonville, Florida, Bill played with folk groups in the early 60’s and rock bands in the 70's
and 80’s. His original trio, The Coachmen, made music together over seven different decades. A veteran of
the U.S. Navy, Bill became a custom home builder in Florida, and later a cattleman wrangling his own
steers in Polk County, NC. He and his wife Kay then retired to the Straits. But a man with a Guild guitar
never really retires from making music. There’s always What’s Left.
